Research on storm surge by strong typhoon and super typhoon for flood mapping in Phu Yen province

Abstract

    Calculation of storm surge due to strong typhoon and super typhoon is urgent scientific mission in flood mapping for the coastal provinces of Vietnam and this study is carried out for Phu Yen province. The calculation of the total water level along the coast is based on the model MIKE 21 covering the South Central region in East Sea in order to generate boundary conditions for inundation modeling of coastal areas in Phu Yen Province. This study uses MIKE FLOOD model to build flood maps. The result of this study is a scientific basis to serve the community response to climate change due to surges of strong and super typhoons in Phu Yen province.
