The testing results influence of some super-plasticizer, retarding admixtures on the most suitable for compaction in construction the roller compacted concrete gravity dams

Abstract

    The Super-plasticizer, retarding admixtures is an indispensable component to improve the quality of roller compacted concrete in construction. This paper presents the research results of the 03 types of Super-plasticizer, retarding additives affect to the best compaction process time in RCC gravity dam construction. The results showed that, the Sika TM25 additives, the compaction time of roller compacted concrete above layer from 36 ÷ 60 hours; the Rheoplus 26 RCC (A1) of BASF additives: from 30 ÷ 54 hours; the ADVA 181 of GRACE additives: from 24 ÷ 54 hours. Thereby realize the effectiveness of the Super-plasticizer, retarding admixtures to speed of the dam construction, the compaction work performes before the roller compacted concrete hardened to not affect the mechanical properties of roller compacted concrete.
