Study of flow around circular cylinder using “Lagrangian coherent structure”

Abstract

     In this work, the flow structure around circular cylinder was investigated quantitatively using new method that is Lagrangian coherent structure, (LCS). LCS showed advantages compared with previous methods which used velocity and vorticity contour to show flow structure. Based on LCS, flow structure was investigated in detail. Especially, the boundaries of wake structure can be quantified, which can not be obtained by using other methods.
