Abstract

The heavy metal pollution of water in the Nhue River, that receives wastewater from the To Lich and Kim Nguu River system, was investigated together with the effects of use of this water for the irrigation of the surrounding farmland. Twelve water samples and 12 soils samples were collected from 12 locations in the Nhue River i 6/2016 for heavy metal analyses. The concentration of Cd, Cr and Ni in the water samples ranged from <0,001 mg/L; 0,002 mg/L- 0,006 mg/L; 0,013-0,025 mg/L, were in the limitation of Vietnamese standard for suface water that used for domestic purpose (A2 - QCVN 08:2008/BTNMT). The concentration of Cd, Cr, Ni in the soil samples ranged from 0,15 mg/kg - 0,64 mg/kg; 40,2 mg/kg - 59,7 mg/kg; 32,1 mg/kg - 48,5 mg/kg. The results showed that heavy metal concentrations of Cd, Cr, Ni in the soil samples were much different between locations. The relation coefficient between heavy metal concentration of Cd, Cr, Ni of water sample and soil sample was very high, Pearson coefficient ranged from 0.61-0.76 for Cd, Cr and Ni. The results showed that using irrigation water from the Nhue River effected to cumulate heavy metal concentration in the agrilculrural soil.
