Abstract

Utilizing the finite element method to model physical model with different soil model (soft soil, modified Cam-Clay). The calculated outcomes by modified cam-clay reveal that a line of settlement-time is relatively close to the data of settlement monitoring of the physical model. The traffic project Tanvu-Lachhuyen and Noibai-Laocai modeld by modified Cam-Clay have outputs that are the same as the real data. The lines of settlement-time and the oserved lines have a common trend with 5,7 % and 7,0% of settlement at the end of line respectively, which are small and acceptable. According to the outcome, the research suggest that choosing the modified CamClay to model and analyze the consolidating problems of weak clay by pre-surcharge combining with prefabricated vertical drain.
