Administrative documents in Quoc ngu on Gia Dinh Bao on 1883 exhaustive material evidences

Abstract

Gia Dinh Bao (Gia Dinh Newspaper) is often referred to as the first Quoc ngu newspaper when researching the history of journalism and journalistic language at the early age. Public Affairs column is an important content in a gazette as Gia Dinh Bao but rarely receives attention. The administrative documents in the Public Affairs column on Gia Dinh Bao not only provide readers with valuable materials about the culture, politics, judiciary and society of South Vietnam under the French colony, but also be a diverse resource on Vietnamese administrative style at the late 19 th century. The paper presents the characteristics of administrative documents in the Public Affair column of Gia Dinh Bao in terms of genre, structure, syntax, vocabulary and writing.
