Loan words are indespensible in the development process of a language and Russian is no exception. However, origins of loan words in each language are different from one another. Loans words in Russian mostly originated from the Slavo language and others such as Greek, Latin, Scandinavian, Italian, German, French, Dutch or English…. This article seeks to provide a snapshot of the origins of loan words in Russian, their usage and influences on Russian-speaking societies.
