CHARACTERICTICS OF LANGUAGE-CULTURE INTRODUCTION ETIQUETTE IN MERICAN ENGLISH: A CASE STUDY
Abstract
Like other communication etiquettes such as greeting, leave-taking, thanking and apologizing, introduction etiquette is also a speech act; therefore, apart from the characteristics that are universal and common for every language, the etiquette of introductions has its own properties associated with the specific characteristics of language-culture of each ethnic group and each nation. In this article, we initially investigate some lingual characteristics of introduction etiquette in American English through the use of full name.
