Role of the board in the business performance of small and medium enterprises in Vietnam

Abstract

This article analyzes the impact of leadership qualities and capabilities on the business performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam. Results of empirical analysis of regression on the sample of 206 DNNW showed that 3 factors of experience, good business orientation and number of management board members had a positive impact on SME performance. Based on the research results, the paper proposes a number of measures to improve the business performance of SMEs, most importantly the need to enhance the practical experience, capacity and the number of members.
