Several factors affect the implementation of the flexible endoscope handling procedure at the Endoscopy department of the Central Highlands General Hospital, in 2021

Abstract

The study was conducted to analyze some of influencing factors in the implementation of the flexible endoscope handling procedure at the Endoscopy department of the Central Highlands General Hospital, in 2021. Qualitative research was conducted by in-depth interviews and group discussions to learn about the factors affecting the performance of the endoscope handling procedure.

Findings: Factors affect the implementation of the flexible endoscope handling procedure, including the individual performs the procedure with the right knowledge and positive attitude, the lack of facilities and equipment, lack of specific guidelines, regular training, reward and punishment regulations, inspection and supervision work were not optimized, and other factors such as working environment, work pressure and occupational health also affect process performance. Conclusions: It is recommended that hospital leaders to pay more attention on human resources, provide adequate facilities, chemical equipment for endoscope handling, and strengthen the inspection and supervision. Medical staff should strictly follow the regulations on handling flexible endoscopes.
