ACCESSING THE VIETNAM’S CLIMATE AND EXTREMES IN 2021

Abstract

The article summarizes the extreme climate conditions over Viet Nam in 2021. The data sources are received from the monthly climate project bulletins of Viet Nam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change. The results in 2021 show that the damages are less than 2020 and almost the lowest ever: there were 9 storms and 3 active tropical storms. Over the East Sea region, there were 22 cold surges and 11 heat waves spells. The occurrence of tropical storms and heavy rains mainly focus from August to October 2021, in which, heavy rains occur in the last days of November (from 26 to 30 / XI) in the area from Quang Nam to Ninh Thuan, east of Gia Lai and Dak Lak, with heavy rainstorms in a short time causing flooding in many places.
