Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the relationship between Siberian high pressure (ACSB), Aleutian low pressure (ATAL), East Asian subtropical Jet Stream in the Tibetan plateau (TSJT) and cold events in winter in Northern Viet Nam. The results of the evolution of ACSB, TSJT and CLSBAL (difference between ACSB and ATAL) showed their variation in relation to cold events in Northern Viet Nam. Correlation analysis between ACSB, ATAL, CLSBAL, TSJT with average temperature in in Northern Viet Nam of 13 cold events showed that ACSB was stronger and CLSBAL was higher than 3-5 days before, the temperature in the Northern Viet Nam was lower. Regression analysis between three large-scale characteristics of ACSB, CLSBAL, TSJT with average temperature in the Northern Viet Nam of 13 cold events shows that of the three large-scale features considered, the influence of TSJT on cold events in the Northern Viet Nam is second after ACSB.
