TRIALS ON INTENSIVE CULTURE OF SQUARED-HEAD CLIMBING PERCH (ANABAS TESTUDINEUS) IN THE PLASTIC PONDS AT NHAN TRACH COMMUNE, BO TRACH DISTRICT, QUANG BINH PROVINCE
Abstract
The trials on squared-head climbing perch (Anabas testudineus) culture in the small plastic ponds were carried out in order to create more activities that help farmers improve their incomes. This experiment was conducted at Nhan Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province from April 2015 to July 2015. Fish were fed pellet feed 25 - 35% CP. The feeding rates ranged from 5 - 7% of the body weight. Water quality parameters in the ponds during culture periods were in suitable ranges for fish growth. After 4 months, the mean weights of fish ranged from 146 to 157 g/individual. Daily weight gain of fish was 1.2 g/day. Survival rate was 81%. Food conversion ratio (FCR) ranged from 1.4 to 1.6. Yield of squared-head climbing perch was 30562.3 kg/ha. Cost benefit ratios reached to 0.48. Generally, this model is suitable for the poor household in rural areas.
