Abstract

In recent years, the method of using plants for cleanup and recovery of contaminated soil (phytoremediation) has been studied and used in many countries. In this study, two sweet sorghum cultivars Keller (KE) and E-Tian (ET) were treated by Cadmium 100ppm for the experimental material. We analyzed the ability of absorption and distribution of heavy metal Cadmium (Cd) in sweet sorghum. Experimental results showed that, each part of plant accumulated different Cd concentration. Concentration of Cd in Root> stem >old leaves>young leave> seed. Comparison between two sweet sorghum cultivars showed that; KE has higher absorption and accumulation of Cd concentration than ET; therefore, KE can be used for biofuel production and phytoremediation of heavy metal in soil.
