SOME SOLUTIONS TO DEVELOP GEOLOGICAL TOURISM IN VIETNAM
Abstract
Vietnam is assessed by global scientists as a territory (including mainland
and ocean) with complex geographical and geological qualities. These qualities
have created a geodiverse country with many geological heritages apt for
development into tourist attractions, especially appealing to foreign tourists. The
sites provide opportunities for the development of geological tourism in
Vietnam. However, geological tourism is still considered a relatively new form of
tourism in Vietnam. These natural resources have not yet been appraised,
planned, exploited and developed up to their potential to create economic and
social benefits as well as stable development for the country. This article reviews
the situation of Vietnam geological tourism, analyses chances and challenges,
thus proposing solutions for its stable development.
