Abstract

Waste products from Marigold Flowers are used to produce cheap and environmentally friendly compost. The raw material is Marigold Flower waste from the lutein extraction process that has been dried down to about (50% - 60%) moisture content. Then, Ammonium sulfate is added to the ingredient to achieve the appropriate C:N ratio (C: N = 25:1). After that, it is blended with 1g/l TKS solution at a ratio of 15ml/30g and mixed well. The mixture is incubated at room temperature and the natural pH of the raw material (pH = 5 - 6) for 10 - 15 days. The obtained compost product shows dark brown coloration and analyzes with resulting of 3.92% humus, 33% moisture, 87% volume loss, 2.119% total nitrogen, 43% total carbon. .23%. After this phase is completed, the moisture content of product should be adjusted to 30% to meet industry standard 10TCVN 526 - 2002 for microbial organic fertilizer processed from household waste of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
