THE US ANNIHILATION BELT IN PHU BAI (HUONG THUY, THUA THIEN HUE) IN THE RESISTANCE TO THE US (1965-1973)

Abstract

Phu Bai is one of the first belts formed from the practice of fighting the US, the ring surrounding a large combined military base of the US and the Republic of Vietnam, the connection between the rural areas, mountainous and urban forests. Before the American conspiracy and actions, implementing the policy of the Party Committee of Thua Thien Hue province decided to establish “the US annihilation belt” around the US base in Phu Bai. From 1965 - 1973 with the combination of military struggle with political struggle, military campaign, between attack and rebellion, between concentrated warfare and scattered warfare, troops and people on the perimeter fought many battles, destroying, consuming and restraining the Americans in the base, failing the “search and destroy” and “pacification” operations, contributing to the war against the US and the rescue of the country in Huong Thuy to victory March 24, 1975. This article focuses on clarifying the formation and operation of the US annihilation belt in Phu Bai (Huong Thuy, Thua Thien Hue).
