THE INFLUENCE OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON EMPLOYEE COMMITMENT – THE MEDIATING ROLE OF ORGANIZATIONAL TRUST: A CASE STUDY OF C.P. VIETNAM CORPORATION
Abstract
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is currently a topic of considerable debate. It is one of the most important factors in comprehensively evaluating an enterprise in terms of competitiveness and sustainable development. Moreover, a clear understanding of CSR plays a decisive role in fostering employee commitment, serving as a key to successful human resource development and business operations. The study was conducted using 295 survey responses collected online from employees at the head office of C.P. Vietnam Corporation. The results indicate that CSR toward the community, the environment, consumers, employees, and the State all have a direct and positive impact on employees’ trust in, and commitment to, the organization. At the same time, organizational trust plays an important mediating role in the relationship between CSR and employee commitment. Among these factors, CSR toward the State has the strongest effect. In addition, organizational trust has a direct impact on employee commitment. These findings provide practical implications for enterprises to enhance CSR policies and propose corresponding managerial recommendations.
