AO DAI SYMBOL IN VIETNAMESE PAINTING

Abstract

            Throughout the history of modern Vietnamese art, from accomplished artists graduating from The Fine Arts College of Indochina to the ones who have become famous afterward, each of them has their own knack and method. However, most of them have been choosing a symbol to show in their works: National Ao Dai. The elegant beauty of this dress type has entered art as well as unique, bringing the beauty of Vietnamese women wearing Ao Dai far beyond the frontier of Vietnam and to more general people. This research shows the morale of Vietnamese people with cultural values of ancient traditional history that need to be preserved and art also contributes a part effort to that process.
