Abstract

Xuan Quan Cong Nguyen Nghiem is not only known as a famous mandarin with profound knowledge and outstanding military talent during the Le - Trinh period, but also a typical character in connecting and transmitting the hundred years cultural values ​​of the Nguyen Tien Dien family. His Tich thien gia huan bi ky has both literary value and many useful lessons for the family. This article is to exploit the useful values of his work for the development process of the clan. By using biographical research, interdisciplinary approach to literature and culture, religion, and system, the article contributes to clarifying the outstanding values of the work with a positive influence on generations and clan culture. The research results show that Tich thien gia huan bi ky clearly demonstrates three useful values for maintaining and promoting the clan's cultural identity. That is, re-establishing and guaranteeing the humane and honest values of the clan; shaping and affirming the spirit of dedication to the country for each generation in the clan; promoting and respecting the brilliant literary values of the clan. Thereby, the article shows that the work plays an important role in preserving and guaranteeing the integrity of the clan’s identity. This study is meaningful in affirming Nguyen Nghiem’s cultural and literary talent as well as creating a premise for future studies on the Nguyen Tien Dien family.
