DEVELOPING COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM IN VIETNAM - A CASE STUDY OF DUONG LAM ANCIENT VILLAGE AND LAC VILLAGE

Abstract

Community-based tourism (CBT) is one of encouraged tourism types, especially in developing countries for sustainable development. CBT emphasizes and concentrates on the local community participation. Developing CBT has already brought a lot of positive economic, social and cultural, and environmental effects to the community. This paper studies the current situation of developing CBT at Lac village - Mai Chau - Hoa Binh and Duong Lam accient village - Son Tay - Hanoi, including tourism resources, stakeholders' participation, tourism products and the tourists. The study uses field and interview methods to collect data, and other statistical methods such as summarization, comparation and analysis. It is important to study these cases for evaluation of CBT development in two communities, withdraw conclusions and implications for further researches in order to develop CBT in other local communities of Vietnam.
