Traditional creativity in culture: Theory and practice from organizing traditional festival in Quang Ninh

Abstract

The Quang Ninh traditional festival is a valuable cultural heritage passed down to us by generations of our ancestors, as well as a beauty in the traditional cultural activities of the Vietnamese ethnic community in general and the Quang Ninh ethnic community in particular. Throughout history, the issue of organizing the Quang Ninh festival in particular and Vietnam in general has been understood as a process of interweaving many different socio-political movements of the State and the community, demonstrating the legal role of the State and the community in festival activities from the past to the present.  The article will analyze the practical organization of some typical festivals in Quang Ninh today, using the theory of “traditional creation” and within the framework of time, space, worshiping characters, performances, and traditional festival values, with the ultimate goal of appreciating and effectively using cultural heritage in the context of innovation and cultural heritage conservation.
