The 5-year reformed primary school program in the northern mountainous provinces of Vietnam (1956-1959)
In 1956, Northern Vietnam carried out the second educational reform. According to the reform policy, a 10-year general education system was established to replace the 9-year general education system and the secondary and primary schools of the previous 12-year education system. However, based on the local conditions of the mountainous provinces, instead of implementing the primary school program in 4 years as in the lowland, the Party and the State have advocated implementing a 5-year primary school program to meet practical requirements and further improve the quality of education from 1957 to 1959. This article initially explores the formation, its content and implementation process of the 5-year primary school program in the mountainous provinces of Northern Vietnam and present some necessary comments and conclusions.
