Đồng Nai is a land known for its extraordinary people and rich natural blessings. Throughout the course of history, the region of Đồng Nai has undergone numerous changes in its name and administrative designation. It has long been regarded as a strategically vital area-"controlling key positions," with "rugged mountains and rivers… abundant resources, bustling with vehicles and boats… houses packed like overturned bowls, and all kinds of northern and southern products available-truly a thriving urban center." With its deep historical and cultural traditions, Đồng Nai has journeyed alongside the nation's development. Over more than 300 years (1698–2025), the formation and growth of Đồng Nai province have always been closely linked to the glorious struggle for building and defending the Vietnamese nation. In this article, we present several observations on the administrative transformations of Đồng Nai, its historical names, and the
identification of its founding date. We hope these insights will contribute to the effort of establishing the province’s traditional commemoration day. At the same time, this work aims to foster patriotism, uphold the revolutionary heroic tradition, and nurture national pride among the younger generations, officials, armed forces, and people of the province.
