The rise, transformation and characteristics of the commodity economy of Thang Long-Hanoi in Pre-modern period

Abstract

This article provides a brief introduction of the rise, development, transformation of the commodity economy of Thang Long-Hanoi in different periods of pre-modern time, namely before the in Pre-Thang Long period, during the Thang Long-Hanoi period, until it became a colonial city in modern time. The article focuses then on analyzing characteristics of the commodity economy of pre-modern Hanoi.

All above-mentioned characteristics Thang Long-Hanoi's commodity economy contributed to form and define the development of the Thang Long-Hanoi city in the Middle Age, stipulated the various aspects of the Hanoi city in the Modern time and still influenced on the fields of the economic, social and cultural life of the Hanoi Capital today. The advantages and sisadvantages of its commodity economy can both influence the development of Hanoi today on the road towards a city of Civilization and Modernity.
