  • Nguyễn Thị Thanh Hương

Abstract

Right after the establishment of the Vietnam Communist Party in 1930, the party and President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention on the task of strengthening and expanding the national solidarity within the United National Front. The name and organization of this Front was flexibly changed and modified in each stage of the revolution in order to cope with the new circumstance and to suit the utmost aims of assembling and consolidating forces. Viet Minh was often considered as the former organization of this United Front. Due to some specific circumstances in southern Vietnam, Viet Minh could only gain its foothold in Binh Dinh after the Japanese have overthrown the French in March 1945.

In April and May 1945, the Committee of National Salvation Mobilization and the Viet Minh Front of Binh Dinh were established. The Viet Minh in Binh Dinh was to mobilize political and military forces, rehearsing the people's struggling movement, preparing for the final insurrection, and leading the people to revolt through the province at appropriate time.
