Abstract

The Confucian-learning vestiges are the public monuments in different sizes and forms in various localities for worshipping Kungzi as well as Confucian scholars and followers. They also consist of schools, examination places which used to relate to the process of recruiting and training learned people for the feudal administration in all localities. The system of Confucian-learning vestiges in Vietnam consists of four categories: temple of literature; places for worshipping Kungzi and Confucian scholars; schools and examination places; temples for worshipping Confucian creators and former scholars in some villages. Under the Nguyen period, the system of temples of literature in Vietnam amounted to 28 temples in the whole country, including two central temples in Hanoi and Hue and 26 provincial and regional temples.

Nowadays, the system of Confucian-learning vestiges still plays an important role in the education and training and in building up the intellectual economy in our country. Therefore, people are paying good attention on preserving and reconstructing the system of Confucian-learning vestiges as well as organizing socio-cultural activities at these places.
