Some Feature on the Truong Son Trail during the American War

Abstract

During the American War, the Truong Son trail has become a legendary trail, a "labyrinthine battle in forest". Haft a century since its formation and 34 years since the end of the war, Truong Son Trail had been a research subject for both politicians, military commanders and historians who agreed that: the United State failed in the Vietnam War for its inability of destroying this trail. The Truong Son trail was not simply a road but, above all, it was the symbol of Vietnamese nation's desire for independence, freedom and national unification. This article focuses on discussing the foundation, development, and significant role of the Truong Son trail. Based on these analyses, the article highlights the military arts deployed by the Vietnamese armies in the western fromtier during the American war.
