The Relationship between Japan and Republic of Vietnam from 1955 to 1965
Abstract
On the basic of new research findings, this article seeks to highlight the relationship between Japan and Republic of Vietnam in the period 1955-1965, focusing on the following discussions:
1. The relationship between Japan and Republic of Vietnam during this period was originated from Japan's Keizai gaiko policy (policy of economic diplomacy) and Saigon's strategy of gaining international political recognition and support.
2. This relationship evolved around the economic relations.
3. The most important issue in this relationship was the war reparation.
4. Along with the war reparation, Japan also loaned money to the Southern Vietnamese government though less in number than its loan to the other Asian countries during this period.
