11. Protecting human rights to environment under current legal system of Vietnam

Abstract

Environmental pollution, climate change have became more and more seriously, extremely impact on ensuring the quality of human life on earth. Therefore, environmental protection is also protecting basic human rights. In Vietnam, many policies and regulations have been enacted to address the relationship between environmental protection and human right protection. In addition to efforts and achievements, the implemention of environmental regulations still has shortcomings, being significant obstacles for meeting the sustainable development goals of the country. Facing the urgent requirement of current practice, this study focuses on clarifying the assurance of human rights associated with the environment (also known as environmental rights) in the Vietnamese legal system, at the same time raising some difficulties, problems in the implemention of environmental regulations and then proposing directions for building and revising environmental regulations in Vietnam.
