DEVELOPING THE CURRICULUM OF SPECIALIZED ENGLISH FOR TOURISM ALIGNING WITH THE STANDARDS FOR ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF UNIVERSITY TRAINING PROGRAMS

Abstract

Developing curriculums aligning the standards for assessing the quality of university training programs is necessary because the quality assessment standards will be a guideline for the curriculum development cycle. However, the current English curriculum at the Faculty of Tourism, Hanoi Open University (FOT-HOU) is a pilot one, so it has not been evaluated overall. Therefore, the objective of this study is to assess the response level of this curriculum to the quality assessment standards of university training programs issued by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), then to give out solutions to develop it, referring to both its strengths and existing problems. The proposed solution is a change in the curriculum’s common objectives, specific objectives, outcomes, course syllabus and exam specification and matrix.
