Abstract

Open and Distance Education (ODE) has been formed and developed in many years to contribute a worldwide learning society. OPEN Universities, including Hanoi Open University (HOU), has made a great impact of ODE on more and more people participating in learning. Participating in an online course, learners can save travel costs and time because ODE provides flexible schedule that allow them to study any time anywhere with online learning system. However, in the training process in recent years, it is also found that the situation of students not completing one or several subjects leads to an increase in not completing the online course (EHOU). The analysis is based on a review of existing material (statistical data, reports...) and focuses on the students had been dropout from EHOU program. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics, comparative method and meta-analytic method. Based on the results of analyzing the impact of demographic factors (gender, age, education level), the authors propose a number of solutions to reduce the dropout rate of EHOU students.
