Abstract

Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) have seen widespread adoption across industrial and commercial applications, with growing demands for maintaining high efficiency and reliability under complex operating conditions. The nonlinear dynamics of PMSMs, combined with the influence of external disturbances, pose significant challenges to achieving high-precision control. Sliding Mode Control (SMC) has gained considerable attention due to its strong robustness against system parameter variations and load disturbances in PMSM drive systems. This paper reviews the state-of-the-art research on SMC for PMSMs, emphasizing the design of sliding laws aimed at alleviating the chattering effect while ensuring Lyapunov stability. In addition, the paper outlines the future development trends in SMC design and application for PMSMs.
