Health services utilization at commune health stations in Van Don district, Quang Ninh province in 2022

Abstract

A cross sectional study was conducted on 450 households in Van Don district, Quang Ninh in 2021 to descibe the health services utilization at commune health station (CHS). The results showed that there were 355 sick people from 275 households, of which 330 people (93%) used health services at CHS. Service users at CHS are mainly people with mild condition, accounting for 97.3%. The age group using the most services is from 16 to 60 years old (53.6%), while people over 60 years old account for 24.5%. There were 96.1% of patients who come to CHS to be prescribed and provided with drugs; 93.6% believe that the equipment at CHS is guaranteed for consultation and 95.8% believe in the professional qualifications of medical staff at CHS. There were 35.5% said that the reason for come to CHS is because it is close to home; 31.5% due to good quality, and good service. Regarding to health services costs, most people paid less than 100,000 VND for a medical examination and treatment and 75.8% of the residents said that the cost was sufficient of people think that this cost is suitable for them. Further studies are needed on the factors related to the use of medical examination and treatment services at CHS by the people in order to have more effective measures to improve the quality of health services, that attract more people to choose the commune health station over other places.
