Prevalence and factors related to postpartum depression among women in Hai Phong

Abstract

A cross-sectional study on 284 mothers who have three-month-old babies in Haiphong city to describe postpartum depressive symptoms and associated factors. Results shown that the age group 25-25 accounted for 60,56%, being married was 98,94%, having 1 to 2 children accounted for 95,42%, physical activity during pregnancy (Mean ± SD) was 127,3 ± 63,6 MET-hours/week, Gestational diabetes mellitus was 21,13%, postpartum depression rate is 4,2%, women were physically active during pregnancy meeting the recommendation had a lower depression score than those who did not meet the advice (p=0,01), sport/recreational activity negatively correlated with postpartum depression (rho =-0,13, p=0,03).
