Abstract

The study was carried out on 7 species of plants collected in the mangrove waters of Cat Hai, Hai Phong, including Cỏ tai hùm (Erigeron canadensis L., Asteraceae), Cốc trắng (Lumnitzera racemosa Willd, Combretaceae), Muống biển (Ipomoea pes-caprae L.), Na biển (Annona glabra L., Annonaceae), Sài hồ nam (Pluchea pteropoda Hemsl., Asteraceae), Rau muối (Chenopodium ficifolium Smith, Amaranthaceae), Vọng đắng (Clerodendrum inerme L., Lamiaceae). The investigated samples were investigated for their chemical composition and polyphenol quantification by specific chemical reactions and Folin-Ciocalteu reagent. The obtained results detected the presence of carotenoids, polyphenols, and tannins in the medicinal herbs. Chromatograms of the total extract and the above-ground fractions of the above medicinal herbs were also recorded, serving as the basis for further chemical composition studies. The polyphenol content of the medicinal herbs Cốc trắng, Cỏ tai hùm, Muống biển, Na biển, Rau muối, Vọng đắng and Sài hồ nam were 33.18, 3.96, 7.04, 16.34, 4.76, 11.32 and 44.29 mg/g, respectively. Two species with high polyphenol content, Sài hồ nam, and Vọng đắng, could be potential sources for research on products to protect human health.
