The deviation of single implant placement using surgical guide

Abstract

The important goal for successful implant placement is the ideal position of the three dimensions in the jawbone, long-lasting, functional, and aesthetic. The use of surgical guide (SG) in implant placement was believed to bring many benefits. However, SG still has certain errors due to designing, printing or surgical processing. The article presented a clinical case of a 45-year-old female patient who lost 2 teeth number 36-46 about 1 year due to untreated caries. The patient was placed the implant using a surgical guide. After surgery, patient was examined by CT-Conebeam, evaluating the deviation of treatment results compared to the original design plan. The results showed that there was a certain error between the plan and the clinical reality, but the error was acceptable and the surgical guidce helped to improve the quality of treatment.
