Professionalism in the Practice of Medicine

Abstract

Along with the upwarding development of social life, the development of various types of social services, there is more and more evidence of the decline of public trust in the medical profession and the threat to professional values of the medical practitioners. This has strongly promoted a reconsideration of the importance and interest in the training of professionalism for students in health sectors. This article aims to provide the concept, importance and behavioral manifestations of professionalism in medical practice. The concepts, importance and attributes of professionalism are approached from medical associations around the world, the Ministry of Health and from the work of the technical group on professionalism of five Universities of Medicine and Pharmacy - Those of Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Thai Nguyen and Hue.
