SOME EVALUATION MODELS IN EDUCATION

Abstract

Educational evaluation has received much interest from the government, educational institutions, learners, and society. Evaluation models continue to be developed and widely adopted. This paper focuses on four popular evaluation models in education: Tyler’s goal model, Stake’s responsive model, Scriven’s goal-free model, and Stufflebeam’s CIPP model. These four models are applicable in many areas of assessment, but mostly in curriculum evaluation. In order to deeper understandings of the four models, the paper presents the nature of the models, the characteristics of the models, the pros and cons of each model. In Vietnam, depending on the specific characteristics and context of each school, there is a flexible application of these evaluation models into evaluating the quality of the program, evaluating the level of achieving program objectives, and evaluating the teaching process of the program
