Abstract

After 1955, the educational system for Hoa (Sino-Vietnamese) people started to switch from the colonial style to a new one under the control of the former government of the Republic of Vietnam in the South. The Ministry of Education under the regime of the former government promulgated a number of regulations and made various changes, aiming at making it more appropriate with the new context. This paper focuses on studying several legal regulations relating to the education for Hoa people in Saigon during the period from 1955 to 1975, including specifically: the regulations on school establishment, the regulations on textbooks and curriculums, the regulations on schooling hours for Vietnamese or Chinese language teaching, and the regulations on teachers etc...
