SOME BASIC PROBLEMS OF MODERNITY

Abstract

Modernity is a period of many powerful and unpredictable transformations. The purpose of this article is to identify some ideological characteristics of modernity and address some salient issues that humankind has faced from the second half of the 20th century to early 21st century, such as economic globalization, the fourth industrial revolution, the environmental crisis on global scale, and the dispersion of political power as the challenge for the contemporary politics. The results show that contemporary practical issues share some common characteristics such as intertwining and interplay between modernity and postmodernity, the central and non-central, the rational and irrational, conflicts, complexity, instability and many other factors.
