SOCIAL FUNCTION OF HISTORY THROUGH THE HISTORIOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS OF THE TAY SON MOVEMENT

Abstract

History has two main functions: social function and intellectual function. Because history is so closely related to politics and historians cannot escape their social person, these two functions always go hand in hand in a historical study. In the period 1954-1975, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam in the cause of socialist construction in the North and the liberation of the South to unify the country, history becomes a “battle weapon” on the front of ideological and social functions, the social function of history is highly valued. In this article, we use the historiography of the Northern historians of Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue and Tay Son movement to prove the social function of Northern history in this period.
