THE INDUSTRIAL ECONOMY OF CU CHI DISTRICT, HO CHI MINH CITY DURING THE PROCESS OF INDUSTRIALIZATION AND MODERNIZATION (PERIOD OF 1997-2015)

Abstract

Cu Chi, from a former rural district, has been developing in the direction of becoming a satellite of Ho Chi Minh City with the advent of industrial parks and increasingly upgraded technical infrastructure. Since 1997, the district's economy has changed rapidly thanks to the strong development of manufacturing industry which has become a key production sector in Cu Chi's economic structure. Using field research methods based on local sources, the article clarifies changes in Cu Chi's industrial activities between 1997 and 2015.
