CONCEPTION OF INTERETHNIC AND INTERFAITH MARRIAGE IN SOUTHERN REGION TODAY

Abstract

The social interaction and cultural exchange between ethnic groups, especially between the ethnic minorities group and the ethnic majority group in the Southern region has been taking place for a long time with vivid and multidimensional manifestations. In particular, the establishment of marriage relations between different ethnic groups (or mixed ethnic groups) and different religions contributes to the formation of multi-ethnic (or multicultural) families and lineages. On that basis, the concept of interethnic and interfaith marriage in the Southern region has also changed, deepening the social and cultural relationships, the harmony between ethnic groups and social integration – in the country today. The article analyzes the perceptions about the interethnic and interfaith marriage of the ethnic communities in the Southern region based on the results of the survey of 695 ethnic (or multicultural) households with different religious beliefs in the South conducted in June 2019.
