ROLES OF THE ELDERLY IN DONG NAI PROVINCE’S RURAL FAMILIES

Abstract

To confirm the role of the elderly in society, the United Nations General Assembly agreed to take October 1st as the International Day of the Elderly. The elderly truely have an important position in the survival and development of each family and each country. In Vietnam, the elderly have contributed a lot of their efforts to regain the freedom, independence and unification of Vietnamese. Today, Vietnam is on the path of industrialization, modernization and international economic integration, the elderly will contribute to building a prosperous family and civilized society. The article explores the practical contributions, as well as factors that limit these contributions of the elderly in families in rural areas of Dong Nai province.
