Abstract
During the period of Portuguese hegemony (16th - 20th century), various social classes in Goa (India) engaged in numerous conflicts, manifesting in diverse manners. In the early decades of the 20th century, intellectuals from Goa, most notably represented by Tristão de Braganza-Cunha, introduced significant new ideas to the liberation movement. This article seeks to elucidate the extensive theoretical and practical endeavors of Tristão de Braganza-Cunha, which aimed to instill a spirit of resistance among the populace against Portuguese colonial oppression, thereby facilitating Goa's liberation. Due to his pivotal contributions to the national movement in Goa, he is widely regarded as the "father of Goan nationalism."
