Application of the baculovirus expression system to produce recombinant ORF2 protein of PCV2

Abstract

Result of the recent studies indicated that the ORF2- encoded protein of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) carried the major immunogen. Additionally, the recombinant ORF2 protein reactedstrongly with swine serum after swine was infected with PCV2, indicating that this protein was possible to use in diagnostic assays as ELISA or IPMA. In this study, we employed baculovirusexpression system to produce recombinant ORF2 protein of PCV2 that was isolated in Viet Nam. The result from the IPMA reaction indicated that this recombinant protein possessed naturally biological properties. Additionally, the ORF2- encoded protein obtained from this study can be used for producing the biological materials which can be used in diagnostics and vaccine production.
