Abstract

Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS) is one of the most important diseases causing economic loss in the global pig raising industry. In spite of having many vaccine kinds were developed and used to prevent this disease in several countries, but up to date the protective efficacy of the current PRRS vaccines was limited. In this study, the baculovirus expression system was used to produce recombinant GP5 protein from PRRS strain which was isolated in Viet Nam. The studied results indicated that recombinant GP5 protein producing from Baculovirus system possessed both bioactive and immunity properties. Also, the combination of recombinant GP5 protein and interferon alpha enhanced the specific antibody response with PRRSV (this was determined by IDEXX ELISA and VN Test). The result of this study indicated the potential for development of GP5 recombinant vaccine by using baculovirus system in Viet Nam
