Prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamases-producing (ESBL) and detection of cephalosporin resistance gene of Escherichia coli isolated from pig manure in Viet Nam
Abstract
This study was conducted to detect the multi-drug resistance E. coli strains and cephalosporin resistance genes of E. coli isolated from 100 pig manure samples that collected from Thai Binh province and Soc Son district, Ha Noi City. The studied result showed that cefotaxime resistant E. coli was found in 82% samples. Among 220 isolated E. coli strains, 74.1% was multi-drug resistance to cephalosporin. The rate of ESBL-producing E. coli strains detecting from 195 strains (resistant to at least with other cephalosporin beside cefotaxime) was 80.5%. Moreover, 100% of 5 antibiotic resistant strains and 97.3% of 4 antibiotic resistant strains were able to produce ESBL.CTX, TEM genes were detected popularly in the tested E. coli strains with the rate was 68.8% and 19.8% respectively, of which 61.2% of the ESBL-producing E. coli strains carried CTX only, 12.1% carried TEM and 7.7% carried both CTX and TEM. The SHV gene was not detected at the current study.
