Study on Rickettsia spp. infection in dogs in Ha Noi

Abstract

This study was conducted on 247 dogs raising in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. The studied result showed
that the infection rate of dog with Rickettsia spp. was 17.4%. Rickettsia spp. were identified in all the
dog age groups. Of which, the infection rate was 21.33% in the dog age group more than 2 years
old, while this rate was 16.03% in the dog age group less than 1 year old. The infection rate of the
male dog group and female dog group with Rickettsia spp. was 23.36% and 10%, respectively. The
red blood cell indicators of the infected dogs were lower than that of the healthy dogs, and the white
blood cell indicators of the infection dog group and the healthy dog group were almost unchanged.
